Ann M. LePore

Manager of Applications, Utility Shared Services – IT, Energy East Corporation

Ann LePoreAnn LePore took a non-traditional route to her career in IT – she started at RG&E as a meter reader in 1982. Over the years she worked her way up through the organization,
first to Meter Reading Supervisor, then to a position in Systems Operations within RG&E’s Energy Control Center. Along the way, she made time to go back to RIT where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree with highest honors.

She became an expert on the IT systems in the Energy Control Center and became a Supervisor of Applications managing a team of application developers. In 2006,
she was promoted to her current position of Manager of Applications where she is responsible for managing the relationship between IT and all Field Operations at
Energy East’s New York Utilities (NYSEG and RG&E). Field Operations include the electric, gas and metering crews in the field, Technical and Engineering Services, and System Operations (the group that manages the power grid).

Ann is well respected in all areas of IT for her logical and organized approach to problem solving. She is equally respected within the Field Operations group for her detailed understanding of business operations and her ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Ann was nominated for this award by a colleague who states “As a woman, she has influenced my career in a positive way and I know she has had an equal impact on other women in our IT department.”

Despite Ann’s clear success as an IT professional, if you ask her to name her greatest accomplishment she’ll tell you it is the support she provides her family. Recently she helped her son complete work toward becoming an Eagle Scout, an
award he received in 2006.
