For a full year, the ID Replacement Project Task Force and Core Team planned,
staged and implemented a new direction for RIT records management. The
expression “it takes a village” was never truer than for that project. As a member
of that “village,” Kim Sowers coordinated, programmed and helped direct the many
financial records system changes as well as helped integrate newly developed
applications. While this systems development occurred, she and her team of five
employees also continued to maintain day-to-day operations, including regular
system patching, scheduled reporting, and maintenance.
Kim’s role with the SIRP project at RIT is only one example of her ability to draw
on technical expertise, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to “juggle” tasks,
priorities and resources. In her five years at RIT, she has been instrumental in
building bridges across department teams, and developing a staff that is respected
and sought out for their professionalism and dedication.
Kim has been a long time leader in directing Oracle applications, drawing on just
over 17 years experience in what she calls the “Oracle adventure.” She is an active
participant in the Oracle User Group association on the local and national level. And she is a much sought after speaker at their conferences.
Outside of RIT, Kim and her husband, Frank, support the llocal Multiple Sclerosis
organization, and have participated or helped organize events for the organization
over the last 10 years.
Kim is an avid golfer and volunteers regularly at the Wegmans LPGA event as well
as the Syracuse University Alumni Association annual Wine Competition and
Auction in support of Camp Good Days and Special Times.
