IT Woman of the Year Nominee:

Sylvia Cadena

Sylvia Cadena

Sylvia’s evolution into the Technology field was not obvious.  Upon graduating college Sylvia had planned to teach French.  However, after a Sales internship with Xerox her aspirations changed.  She accepted an Inside Sales position with Unisys Corporation.  There she exceeded her ‘99 sales plan by 313%, bringing the company $4.8 million in revenue. In the second quarter of 2000, she was awarded the Managers’ Club award for outstanding achievement, the sole winner in the Unisys WTS sales organization.

In 2002, Sylvia again changed direction, becoming a Solutions Executive with ITX Corp., a local IT consulting firm.  While at ITX she pioneered the growth of her territory by over 112%.  In only three years Sylvia founder herself promoted to Senior Solutions Executive, handling all Major Accounts with ITX.
Leveraging her experience and expertise, Sylvia took on a new challenge in 2007 by joining an ERP Systems Integration company, Blue Heron Consulting.  Her new role is as a Senior Account Executive, handling Internet Marketing and Account Management for new and existing clients.  During the first quarter of 2008, Sylvia has already demonstrated her ability to exceed expectations by achieving $1.8 M in revenue, 90% of her total year plan. 
Sylvia is active in the community.  She has been on the board for the Assoc. for Women in Computing where she coordinated their first “Women in IT Roundtable”  She organized a "Network and Careers" event at the Rochester Institute of Technology to afford participants an opportunity to interact with local IT professionals.  She is also active in the Rochester Women’s Network.

She has spearheaded a fundraising event for a local bird sanctuary.  She is also a marathon runner, enjoys golf and is fluent in Spanish and French.
