IT Woman of the Year Nominee:

Victoria Viglucci

Chief Information Officer, Greater Rochester Independent Practice Association

Victoria Viglucci Vicky has been with Greater Rochester Independent Practice Association (GRIPA) for almost 10 years, serving as Director of Information Technology and Project Management for GRIPA since 1999 and in 2007 was promoted to Chief Information Officer.  Her contributions have been an integral to the success of the organization. She provides vision and leadership in the development and implementation of Information Technology to support GRIPA strategic initiatives. Vicky’s philosophy of “get input before you build it” assures the product growth and features evolve to meet customer needs.
Vicky’s crowning achievement has been the creation of the GRIPA Connect Web Portal, a key feature of the GRIPA Connect Clinical Integration (CI) Program, which received a positive advisory opinion from the Federal Trade Commission. The portal, launched in Fall 2007, allows a physician to access patient laboratory and x-ray records, review Clinical Guidelines, make notes and referrals and review hospital records.  The system will soon add patient compliance tracking and electronic prescribing features as well.
At GRIPA, Vicky serves as a mentor to her staff. She acknowledges each staff member’s unique abilities and guides them as they work together toward common goals. Two of Vicky’s most valuable staff members are women with nursing degrees who she has worked with to transition from Clinical Care responsibilities to primarily IT responsibilities within a “clinical informatics” arena.
Vicky’s commitment to excellence goes beyond GRIPA. She developed and leads the Healthvision Advisory Board. This is a group of customers of Healthvision who meet to share their concerns and success. Vicky is also in close contact with the gRHIO staff so that we can share lessons learned on development of the portal.
She volunteers in the Penfield School District, participates in the United Way Day of Caring and the GRIPA Social Responsibility Committee. She helps raise funding for The Women in Engineering Program at RIT, also known as WE@RIT, which provides opportunities for young women entering the engineering field. Prior to joining GRIPA, she was the owner and principal at MasterLink Technologies, as well as working at ViaHealth System at Independent Living for Seniors and Rochester General Hospital.  She is a graduate of Brockport State University.
